The Rakes - Klang

The Horrors - Primary Colours

Monsters of Folk

Shri - Seven Steps

I was expecting a bit of rough style breakbeat, but it's a bit more Nitan Sawnay than that. Bit too warbly on the vocals.

Fever Ray

VA - Electric Gypsyland 2

Double album of Balkan music, one disc of raw pulsing foot stompers straight from the squeezebox, and the other a selection of tracks mixed by a random choice of other musicians, bands and remixers. Actually pretty good, though it looses points for having possibly the worse album cover of any album that I can think of - not including any of those "Ibiza beach bar" style compilations of course.

Giant Sand - Provisions

Coutnry Americana

E.V.A. - Extra Vehicular Activity

The one album I can think of that I've been looking for for longer than any other. Originally Pinky Parky had a copy that he leant us, and we listened to it on loop for years, so to finally get a copy of my own is a monumentally exciting moment. THE album of the late 90's. Or at least on of them.

Feed Your Head - Vol 1

Nice compilation from the mid 90's. I wore a Feed Your Head long sleeve T-Shirt to death which is how I first heard about this recording. In fact, I wore the T-Shirt for years before I knew it was anything more than a nice graphic. Cool music, very chilled.

Aim - Stars on 33

I think Cold Water Music is one of the finest albums of the last 10 years. This is a compilation of stuff Aim DJ's with.

Amon Tobin - Recorded Live

Amon Tobin can be pretty touch and go sometimes, but this is AWESOME, a proper ace mix of click clack thunk twang widdle widdle thwup wuppa wuppa breaks and beats. Very very good!

kettel - Cenny Crush

I think Kettel's flipping ace, and this record is pretty nice, though not as refined as his more recent stuff. Still, very enjoyable bleep bleep twiddle techno.

Mojo Magazine Cover - Amorphous Androgynous

FREE CD! A MONSTROUS PSYCHEDELIC BUBBLE EXPLODING IN YOUR MIND! Rare psych sounds compiled and mixed by the Amorphous Androgynous exclusively for MOJO! Featuring Can, Betty Davis, Donovan, Comus, Pop Levi, White Noise, Dungen, July and many, many more!

An unofficial 3rd in the series of (PHENOMENALLY GOOD!) Monsterous Bubbles, a heady twisting mix of 60's psycadelic folk music. 40 years old and sounding fresh as you like. Good stuff. Probably good enough to put in your pipe and smoke, or drip some drops in orange squash and watch the sky turn into a pashmina.

kim hiorthoy my last day

Excellent electronica.

Ellen Allien - Sool

OK album of minimal techno from Ellen Allien. Noway near as good as Orchestra of Bubbles (which she made with Apparat) but still not too bad. Dunno if I'd listen to it so much.

Devdas - Soundtrack

I'd not heard of Ishamil Darbar prior to getting this, but found his stuff to pretty good. Very nice, classical Bollywood sounding, with a contemporary edge, and none of this R&Besque pop nonsense that's dominating the Bollywood music scene (opinionated from an extraordinarily blinkered and minimal knowledge of current Bollywood music, but hey that's the great thing about blogs! Plus noone's ever going to read this, etc etc etc).

Slumdog Millionaire - Soundtrack

Cracking film in my opinion with some Ok songs, but nothing special. Jai Ho is probably going to be a classic though, and I think quite deservedly. Not a patch on pretty much every other Bollywood recording I've got though which is a shame.

Rhythm & Sound - W / the Artists

Reggae singers and Dub Techno germanic twiddly beeping, what a combo! Awesome!

MGMT - Oracular Spectacular

Psychedelic holographic cat suit pop perfection!

Earth - Phase 3 Thrones and Dominoes

After loving The Bees Made Honey in the Lions Skull I thought I'd try this album out as a replacement for a James Blackshaw and Lute recording that I bought on the assumption that it'd be good like his other stuff. Sadly I was left very disappointed with this, it's got lots of noise on it but none of the development and exciting minimalism of recent stuff. Oh well, such is life.
